A unique living wall installation has been completed by Scotscape at the National Gallery in London.
Containing over 26 different plant varieties and 8,000 individual plants, the wall brings
Van Gogh’s famous painting ‘A Wheatfield with Cypresses’ to life.
The Living Wall ‘painting’ is situated on a hoarding on the western side of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, and will grow throughout the summer and autumn, remaining in place until at least the end of October 2011.
Scotscape and ANS worked closely to create the installation, with individual plants selected to match the tones of the original painting; each one was then hand-planted into its location.
Taking responsibility for the Living Wall installation, the Scotscape team was on site for 5 days,
with the company’s maintenance team now visiting the Wall on a weekly basis to ensure the ‘picture’ remains in pristine condition.
